The project is located on the edge of the Lecco mountains in the Curone Natural Park, and it is based on a client request to rethink the basement space of the house to be adapted to the family’s new needs: more flexible use, a new entrance and more generous interaction with the outdoors spaces. The design concept consists into one essential gesture: digging a hole to define an habitable void shaped by the subtraction of material. A new outdoor space thought as an open-air room, where tree foliages and landscape metaphorically become its roof. The interior hall is surrounded by wooden partitions that define flexible configurations. Two materials are used: concrete and wood. Grey and green evokes the tones of the surrounding landscape.
